Lessons from the book of Joshua
Joshua 4:3 – Firm foundation.
“Where the priests’ feet stood firm”
There is a song that says “On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand” indicating that no other thing is firm as Christ is firm. Well, I have found that though this remains true in the case of Christ versus the world, it’s also true inside of Christianity.
There are a few, maybe several, issues that seem to be subject to everyone’s interpretation; belief systems within the kingdom that seem to be affected by differences in culture, personal preference and such like them. It is no surprise that we should see things differently since we all have different points of view, though I hope we shall all come to see things the one way that the one Holy Spirit in all of us sees things The problem arises when we try to enforce what we personally prefer to believe on others as though it were the unshakable and firm kingdom foundation.
I choose like Paul, to consider that the most critical thing is the salvation of a person’s soul and once this is accomplished through faith in Jesus, the rest will come with insight into God or at the very worst, the person dies and gets to heaven before finding out what kingdom principle he’s missed all his earthly life (1 Corinthians 11: 16). I think we all miss one thing or the other (1 Corinthians 13: 9, 12).
Isn’t it wonderful that God is not waiting for us to get it all right before we are counted saved?
